Alabama to draw new congressional map, bolstering Black voters

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Alabama’s hotly-contested congressional map will receive it’s first major overhaul in about three decades after the U.S. Supreme Court made a decision to reject the state’s bid to retain a single majority-Black district.

Tuesday’s decision is anticipated to be a potential victory for Democrats, as the new map would pave the way for greater representation of Black voters in Alabama just head of the 2024 election. Advocates of the redistricting hope the decision has a domino effect, reported the Associated Press.
