Adidas sued by Black former employee over allegations of racism, sexism

Adidas has found itself embroiled in a legal dispute after a Black former employee filed a lawsuit alleging she was unlawfully terminated after she reported incidents of racist and sexist behavior within the company.

The lawsuit was filed on behalf of April Burton who worked on Ivy Park, a now-defunct collaboration between Adidas and Beyoncé, The Financial Times reported.

The lawsuit follows a history of allegations against Adidas regarding workplace discrimination Employees have expressed concerns about a toxic work environment, particularly for Black employees, who have reported feeling unsafe and unsupported. The lawsuit highlights systemic issues within the company, raising questions about its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

In addition to this individual lawsuit, Adidas has faced scrutiny over its handling of past controversies, including its association with Kanye West, who made several public racist remarks. This has led to further legal challenges, including a class-action lawsuit from investors claiming that the company failed to disclose the risks associated with its partnership with West.
