Three people were arrested last week on 115 hate-crime charges for allegedly leaving racist and bigoted symbols at churches and other places in upstate New York, according to police.
The arrests came after local police began investigating reports about hateful pamphlets and stickers showing swastikas and racial slurs in two local churches.
One of the places reportedly targeted was a Black church. Hornell is a predominantly White city.
Two men and one woman were arrested after law enforcement executed a search warrant at a residence in the city. During the search, authorities allegedly found evidence “which depicted the crimes of Aggravated Harassment.”
The three people were charged with 115 counts of 1st-degree Aggravated Harassment.
