PHILADELPHIA — One person is dead and at least eight others were injured after a shooting broke out at a block party in Philadelphia early Saturday morning, police said.
The shooting happened just after 1:30 a.m. in the Parkside section of Philadelphia, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
At least 38 shots were fired, killing one man who died at a local hospital. The surviving victims’ ages ranged from 17 to 51 years old.
Saturday morning’s shooting reportedly came just two days after a man was gunned down on the same area.
Residents have grown frustrated with the brazen acts of gun violence in the neighborhoods and say they live in fear.
The mayor’s office has said shootings are down by 20% compared to the same period last year, but gun violence still needs to be addressed.
