Crowd cheers after Alabama senator makes racist remark at Trump rally in Nevada

Alabama senator Thomas Tuberville is under scrutiny after making a racist remark during a Trump rally in Nevada on Saturday. The former college football coach told the audience that Democrats are “pro-crime” and support people who feel they are owed “reparations.” Many in attendance cheered after Tuberville, who has a history of racially-charged statements and sentiments, made the comment. Black man wins $90K settlement from police in Nevada after being misidentified and jailed

A Black man who was misidentified by police after being pulled over during a traffic in Nevada has won a $90,000 settlement. The settlement stems from a traffic stop in January 2020 when the man was misidentified as a 49-year-old White man who was wanted for a felony. The Black man was reportedly stopped by police in Henderson because of an issue with his headlights. The man didn’t have his drivers license with him at the time of the stop, but he gave the officers his name and social security number. The officers ran the information and found a  felony warrant for someone with the same name. The driver explained to the officers the information was incorrect but they didn’t properly check the information — the felony warrant belonged to a man who was older and had a different middle name....

Community outraged by racist display at Nevada mall

A community in Henderson, Nevada expressed outrage and condemned a train display that depicts two White men preparing to hang a Black man. A group of activists spoke out today in protest of the display, which was put up over the 4th of July weekend. The display was reportedly taken down four days after it went public following complaints. The train display depicts two White men preparing to hang a Black man who has a noose placed around his neck as a White woman points at the event unfolding. Today, the governor of Nevada took to Twitter and said “Racism has no home here in Nevada. Nevada police arrest and jail young Black man in mistaken identity of older White man

A 25-year-old Black man spent several days behind bars after he was arrested by police in Nevada in a case of mistaken identity after the officers failed to properly research a warrant. New video released last week shows ordeal. The arrest happened in January 2020 when the man was pulled over for a busted headlight. The man provided officers his name and social security card explaining his license was suspended. The officers reportedly ran the man’s name in a database and found a no-bond warrant on gun charges for a man with the same name. The person the warrant belonged to was a 49-year-old White man. Body camera video showed the man explaining to officers there was a mistake but after going back and forth, one of the officers told the young man he believed the warrant belonged to him...
