A sheriff in North Carolina who was caught on a recorded phone call using racist language and threatening to fire Black employees has reportedly resigned. Former Columbus County Sheriff Jody Greene resigned from his post on Monday. An investigation is underway after two deputies were caught on video violently arrested a Black security guard. The incident happened on Sunday outside of a hookah lounge in Inglewood. In the video, the deputies can be seen trying to restrain the man while he is on the ground. A small crowd beings to surround the deputies, and at least once, one of the deputies can be seen pointing what appears to be a handgun at onlookers. Columbus police said 20-year-old Donovan Lewis died at a hospital after he was shot early Tuesday morning.
