A deputy in Florida has reportedly resigned after handcuffing a pregnant Black woman during a traffic stop earlier this month that was caught on video. Ebony Washington said she was driving home from Gainesville with her three children in the vehicle around midnight when the family was pulled over, reported News4Ajax. Washington, who is four months pregnant, said did not pull over immediately because she wanted to find an area that was well lit. She turned on her hazards lights when she found a comfortable spot. “It was dark and I was with my kids. Family of Black man killed by Minnesota police officer reaches $3.25 million settlement in wrongful death lawsuit

The family of a 20-year-old Black man who was killed by a Minnesota police officer last year has reached a $3.25 million settlement after filing a wrongful death lawsuit. The young man was shot during a traffic stop in April 2021. The officer, a White woman, pulled the man over for expired tags and an air freshener hanging in the vehicle’s rear-view window. When she tried to arrest him for an outstanding warrant, the man to started driving away. The officer then pulled out a weapon and fired one shot at the man’s vehicle, which killed him. Body camera footage later revealed the 26-year police veteran yelled “Taser” several times while she fired her weapon at the man. Aggressive Florida cop caught on camera telling Black driver “this is how you guys get killed”

A Florida police officer who pulled over a Black driver in Miami-Dade County is currently on desk duty after he told the man  “this is how you guys get killed out here” during a traffic stop last week. The driver, who reportedly was in his mom’s vehicle, was pulled over for an alleged traffic violation. The officer aggressively opened and closed the driver-side door during the confrontation, telling the driver he wouldn’t make it to work that day before also throwing in the threatening statement as the man recorded the encounter on his cellphone. The driver asked the officer to repeat what he said, which he did not do before walking to his police motorcycle and writing a citation.
