Report indicates FB social media ads failed to detect hate speech

A recent report indicates the world’s largest social media platform failed to detect hate speech within its advertisements. The tests were performed by global nonprofit organizations that posted blatantly racist advertisements in Ethiopia, for example, where warring groups have called for genocide. The platform failed to detect the ads even after previous ads with hateful content were directly brought to the company’s attention. If that’s not enough, a report released May 31 also shows hateful discourse on the platform has jumped 38% from the previous month.
