A Black pastor running for office in Washington state was reportedly injured after he was shot twice with a BB gun while he was canvassing.

Pastor Dr. Carey Anderson of First AME Church in Auburn and Seattle, was shot at close range by a “young white male” in a black sedan while he was canvassing in Auburn, according to MyNorthwest.

In April, Dr. Anderson officially announced his candidacy for State Representative for the 30th Legislative District.

The 30th district is new and encompasses Auburn, Algona, Des Moines, Federal Way and Pacific.

Dr. Anderson, a Federal Way resident, is contending for the House seat vacated in March.
